ReadingOne of my longest held passions is that for reading. I try to always have something to read with me, and frequently take a magazine or book with me to lunch. Although some of the attractions of the digital world (such as working on my home network or studying for a degree in Computer and Information Sciences) have intruded on the time I can spend reading, I still dedicate a little time each day to books on subjects I enjoy. My favorite subjects are, in no particular order, science fiction, complexity theory, anthropology and the Aubrey/Maturin seafaring novels by Patrick O'Brian. Since reading Crytonomicon by Neil Stephenson, I am also developing an interest in cryptography and computer systems' security.
Here is a list of what I am reading now. I usually have two or three books "going" at a time - one
in the living room, one on my nightstand and one in my briefcase.
Here is a list of the last five books that I have read. This list does not include books that I have
read for classes I have taken, since reading those was compulsory and not necessarily a reflection of
my tastes in reading materials.
These books are "next." I am particularly looking forward to Bruce Schreier's book.
